About Our Doctors

Dr. David Draeger, DC

Pathway to the Top (Gun)

Dr. David Draeger, DC is originally from Antigo, WI. He got his Chiropractic start in a rather unconventional fashion. During his senior year of high school, Dr. Dave watched the movie “Top Gun” and decided he needed to be a fighter pilot like Tom Cruise. No joke!  He enrolled in flight school in the south and his adventure began. A semester later, after realizing how much more was involved besides great aviator shades he dropped out. Seriously, all true. Floundering, he returned to Wisconsin and enrolled at UW-Stevens Point, still with no idea of which direction to go.

Dr David Draeger about

A role model in Chiropractic

His older brother, Dr. Curt Draeger, DC, had already graduated from Chiropractic School.  Dr. Curt was successful, passionate about his field, operated his own clinic and couldn’t be happier. After much soul searching and conversations with Curt, Dave followed suit and found his new direction and eventually his true calling.

More than just a career path

Midway through Chiropractic School Dave was told that he had an exceptional, natural ability to “adjust.” Perfect speed, force, and timing. Excited with this discovery he became a fixture at the school clinic, adjusting anyone who would allow it. They made him the student, clinic manager and he was brought in to assist whenever someone needed help. Dr. Draeger graduated from Northwestern Health Sciences University, Bloomington, MN with a Doctorate of Chiropractic and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Human Biology. Over the next 20+ years his skills continued to improve as he developed new techniques and approaches to care that have set him apart from other providers.

Hope for chronic pain sufferers

Dr. Dave’s specialty lies in chronic pain cases. He has become the “last resort of hope” for many patients who have felt like they have exhausted all other conventional medicine options. Over the past few years he has developed a reputation for getting results. Word spread and the so did the complexity of the cases. One of the best parts of his job is seeing the look of relief on a patient’s face when their pain has subsided. He believes his success is achieved by focusing his attention to the origin of the patient’s health issues. The body is thought of as a whole, not individual parts. A puzzle with many pieces that have to be put together to determine the “root cause” of the problem.  From spine to extremities, his goal is to re-align the entire body to function together, then condition it to stay that way. He utilizes the newest, most advanced, non-invasive therapy options available

Creating a whole healing experience

The clinic itself is always state of the art and consistently evolving, but maintains its relaxing, spa-like feel which is warm, inviting and comfortable. Much like Dr. Dave’s personality. He is soft spoken with excellent listening skills, compassionate, lighthearted, and very positive. Chiropractic is not just a profession for Dr. Dave it is a passion!!

When not at the clinic Dr. Dave enjoys spending time with his wife Laurie, their children and new grandson.  He loves to work out, waterski, cook and travel.

Dr. Kate Herzog, D.C.

Fighting for the Underdog

Dr. Kate Herzog, D.C. was raised in Minocqua, WI since the age of 12 and is a graduate of Lakeland Union High School. From a young age, her mom always felt she would be a special education teacher because she always stood up for those who often couldn’t speak for or defend themselves.  She was (and still is) an advocate for the underdog.

The Northwoods Dream

Her family had bought a furniture store in the area and relocated from Illinois to live what her father called “the Northwoods dream.” They apparently weren’t very good at moving furniture because a few months after arrival, they were already established patients at Draeger Chiropractic, where supposedly the “best” chiropractor in the area was located.

Big adjustments and Dr. Draeger

A year later, Dr. Kate’s father, Brian (age 44) was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and was often so sick that he couldn’t make his appointments. Out of the blue, Dr. Dave would show up at the furniture store on Saturdays.  With a portable adjusting table and a child or two in tow he proceeded to adjust Brian and any other family member who happened to be there. They lost touch with Dr. Dave after Brian’s death.A few years later, Dr. Kate’s mom, Laurie, hurt herself (again) and needed treatment. During Laurie’s first visit back, she learned that Dr. Dave was recently divorced. To make a long story short, they are both Dr. Kate’s parents now.

Discovering the call to care

Dr. Kate attended UW-Milwaukee as a freshman, and was still struggling with what she wanted her career path to be. Dr. Dave told her to come home for the summer and work at the front desk of the clinic. After one summer of being there, Dr. Kate saw firsthand how much joy Dr. Dave felt from being able to help people. She quickly figured out what she was wanted to do. Dr. Kate got her undergraduate degree from Northwestern Health Sciences University in Human Biology while also completing her doctorate degree in Chiropractic. During her time in school, she developed a passion for neurology and interpreting lab results. One of her strong suits is diagnosing conditions by being able to put all of the pieces together.

Creating her own Northwoods dream

Dr. Kate started working with Dr. Dave in June of 2020 as an intern and began full time in January of 2021 seeing patients of her own. Dr. Dave has worked extensively with Dr. Kate, teaching her his exclusive methods/techniques in patient adjustments and therapies. Though Dr. Kate is a bit more petite than Dr. Dave, rest assured she has the skill to deliver the same great results. When not at the clinic, Dr. Kate can be found relaxing on a pontoon boat, slalom skiing or floating on her raft with family and friends in the summer months. She also likes to cook, bake chocolate chip cookies, watch movies, or research whatever topic is relevant at the time.
